DATARAN MERDEKA, KUALA LUMPUR

Feeling familiar coming back to this city, Kuala Lumpur, in early this month. It was my second time for me. I visited KL during my trip to Thailand. We were just stop by for 5 hours before our flight to Phuket. Since it was the first time for my friend, we decided to visit KLCC, Masjid Jamek and Dataran Merdeka. Unfortunately, Masjid Jamek was under construction. We prayed for a moment and then towards to Dataran Merdeka.

 Dataran Merdeka

Dataran Merdeka (or Merdeka Square) is the old colonial heart of Kuala Lumpur. Surrounded by colonial architecture with an exotic local flair, the square was once the site of British social and sporting events. What makes this region must be visited while you are in Kuala Lumpur is the architecture of the building itself.

Behind Masjid Jamek, there are some historical building such as Panggung Bandaraya, Kementrian Pelancongan dan Kebudayaan Malaysia and Sultan Abdul Samad building.

We catching up our flight after this.
You can find about my first time visited Malaysia, here.
And my journey in Thailand for next post. Thank you.

Notes :
* From KL Sentral, take LRT Kelana Jaya line (pink color) or you can take another LRT and Monorail line from your place. Stop in Masjid Jamek station and you need walk to north about 5 minutes from it. Find out more about Transportation in Kuala Lumpur here.
* LRT fares about RM 1-2
* There is free guided tour from the Mayor of KL office which runs three times in week (Monday, Wednesday and Saturday at 9.00 AM). It starts at the KL City Gallery Centre located near the tall Malaysian flagpost (you can't miss it, seriously).
* If you walk to south of Dataran Merdeka you will find Kuala Lumpur Railway station and National Mosque. You can find Petaling/China Town and Central Market if you keep walk after it.
